Candida IgA, IgM, IgG
Candida is a fungal infection. This test checks for Candida antigen and IgA, IgM, IgG antibodies.
Candida is a type of fungal infection which can affect mucosal surfaces, such as the mouth or vagina. It is a common infection in people who are immunocompromised, such as diabetics and those living with HIV/AIDS. When testing for candida infection, tests for IgA, IgM and IgG antibodies can also be done. IgA antibodies are common in superficial infections which require little intervention. IgM is usually secreted at the beginning of infection and indicated active disease. IgG is usually used to test whether there was a past infection and if there is immunity. These tests are expensive and are not commonly performed. Instead, a culture is usually done to see if candida grows.
