Heart Health Package
Heart Health Package
You will get a complete overview of cardiovascular health indicators, more than typical cholesterol panel to discover current and potential heart health issues.
High blood cholesterol, triglyceride, and lipoprotein levels are one of the most important risk factors for the coronary heart disease and a heart attack. Cholesterol, a thick, fatty substance has its role in the overall health but having too much of it in the blood makes your heart health vulnerable. Increased level of LDL cholesterol, often referred as a “bad cholesterol”, has an important role in atherosclerotic plaque buildup. Decreased level of HDL cholesterol, also known as a “good cholesterol”, limits the “cholesterol cleaning capacity” of the body, that way increasing the risk of heart attack and coronary heart disease. Triglycerides are just one of the products in the cascade in the metabolism of fat. Although they have an important role in our bodies, studies show that excessive amount of them is a risk factor for a heart attack and coronary heart disease. The cholesterol, lipoproteins and triglycerides levels (lipid status) are affected by many factors. Age, gender, diet, physical activity, menopause, thyroid gland hormonal status are just a few of many factors that determine the lipid status. Quite often, the first sign of thyroid disease is abnormal lipid status.
What does this test reveal about your health?
This test will reveal your lipid status- one of the most important parameters of health. Just by analyzing the status of cholesterol and other components of the test it will be possible to assess what needs to be done in order to prevent coronary heart disease, heart attack (and many other serious health conditions such as a stroke or pancreatitis- a life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas). This test will not only reveal your lipid status but the best strategy to treat any of it deviations (strict diet, mild dietary restrictions, medicines, combined approach).
This panel combines popular tests to help evaluate risk for cardiovascular disease, heart attack, or stroke. This package includes a Lipid Panel and a C-Reactive Protein High Sensitivity test.
Oral contraceptives, IUDs, pregnancy, and menstruation may raise hs-CRP levels. Levels are lowest during ovulation. This panel requires fasting for 9 - 12 hours prior to going in for blood collection.
