Hepatitis B Core Antibody, IgM
Hepatitis B is a STD that is caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV).
Symptoms of Hepatitis B are:

Yellow skin and dark urine due to jaundice.
It can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, sharing needles, and from mother to child. The severity of the disease ranges from mild or acute symptoms to more long term and severe cases that can cause liver disease or liver cancer.
The Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for those who have not been previously vaccinated. This test looks for IgM antibody to hepatitis B core antigen and is a reliable marker for acute hepatitis B infection.
At times this is the only marker present in the diagnosis of hepatitis B viral infection. This test can also be used to detect previous exposure in an individual who has become immune compromised.
