This 4th generation HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV1/HIV2 infection, including acute or primary HIV-1 infection.
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the cause of AIDS disease. It is a sexually transmitted infection that currently has no cure. Most people only start displaying symptoms very late in the disease process. Therefore, it is important to get tested regularly. The HIV 1/2 antigen/antibody is a 4th generation combination assay test that is used as the screening test to detect either HIV virus or antibodies to the virus in the blood.
